What We Do

In October of 2007, QuickStart, partnered with the Ottawa Children's Treatment Centre and the new Getting Started Services Clinic began.

Before our partnership, there was nothing available in the Ottawa area that provided any services prior to a diagnosis.

With Getting Started Services Clinic children are now getting help and support as soon as the parents become concerned about their child's development.

Getting Started Services will do a preliminary screening of your child. From the information provided during the screening, you and your child will have one-on-one appointments with professionals who will teach and show you strategies to work with your child.

You will be offered group sessions on behaviour and sensory concerns, play and socialization, self-help skills, communication, and nutrition. You will also receive support from our professionals and from other families who are facing similar issues.

Our unique approach is reaching children several months earlier.

In the clinic's first year of operation we have seen over 150 childrren, expanded our clinic to two days a week and increased our staff to four Health Care Professionals!

Our goal is to expand our services to three days a week and have nine health care workers on staff so we can reach even more children.

Our services are offered in both French and English and there is no charge to the family to attend Getting Started Services.

Please note that attending Getting Started Services does not mean your child will be diagnosed with autism.

Our service is for children ages one to five.

If you are concerned about your child's development please call our Clinical Coordinator, Cecile Bisson, at 613-737-0871 ext 2293.

Every child deserves the opportunity be the best they can be. QuickStart and Getting Started Services are giving children that opportunity.
