The early years of development are a critical time period for every child to learn skills that will serve them throughout their lives. For children on the autism spectrum, these years are an opportunity to counteract the development delays that are inherent with autism.
QuickStart's KickStart program is helping to provide early identification and therapeutic interventions for children under 30 months of age who are showing signs of autism. These interventions are funded 100% by QuickStart.
The cost for these services is over $4000 per child. The results are priceless.
Since it began as a pilot project in 2013, the KickStart program has seen great success. Last year the program helped 33 children and their families.
KickStart families commit to weekly appointments over a 4-5 month period. Parents also commit to spending at least 2 hours daily to apply the strategies they are learning, as well as keeping a log of interactions to measure progress.
The number of children and families is growing. We want to continue to deliver this program to children in Ontario and Quebec.
